With a Master’s of Science in Education from Mount Saint’s Marys College in Los Angeles and teaching experience in elementary, middle and high school as well as university, Mr. Bernardez was the principal of Los Angeles International Charter High School for the first four years of operation, then Athletic and International Director for several years. He received his B.A. in "Community-based Programming of Children and Adolescents" from the University of Redlands. He was the Community Service Coordinator for RYG Brotherhood, Resident Advisor, and was trained as a tutor in AVID, a Resident Storyteller and has done volunteer work in Honduras, Belize, Toronto, and Mexico. Mr. Bernardez loves to play basketball and cook.

Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Mr. Bernardez worked as a School Counselor, Substitute Teacher, ESL Instructor, International Youth Coordinator and Camp Coordinator. In his educational philosophy, students are unique and its important that they find their own voice through positive and meaningful exposure to life experiences and various environments, which will in turn help them develop their own interests.
